Calida Projects were engaged by the Laundy Hotel group for the construction and refurbishment of the Plumpton Hotel.
The works consisted of demolishing the existing bistro, amenities, back of house and external beer garden at the front and redeveloping and joining the new build with the current building.
The designers, Bergstrom Architects, liaised with the client and wanted to open up the space and create a modern bar and bistro. The left wing of the hotel was completely re-developed from ground up including the structure, facade and internal.
The front beer garden had foundation footings excavated and were poured with a new concrete slab. A galvanised structural steel portal frame was erected for the structure of the hotel and the envelope of the building encased with masonry, glazed windows, exotec timber cladding and metal roofing.
Internally the space was eloquently divided into a number of area’s including a new covered outdoor terrace, bar, bistro, lounge, function room, amenities and kids play area.
Features of the hotel include a beautiful 360 degree fire place in the centre of the outdoor terrace, Newport rock cladding around the fire place and western walls, exposed black trusses in the function room and feature metal ceiling panels and bespoke joinery.
All services where upgraded and first-rate applications added including Cbus lighting & electrical, mechanical climate control, gas service for fire place and high end gas heaters, audio visual and kitchen services.
The project commenced in August 2015, with the construction taking 4 months to December 2015.
The Monkeys head office was relocated in May 2015, designed by Akin Creative it displays custom made timber workstations for all its employees as well as a large display of greenery throughout. The office has a “laid back” and “chilled” theme to it making all employees feel extra comfortable.

Calida was engaged as the builder, but successfully project managed the base build works which included renovations to the existing building, as well as construction of the new amenities blocks.
